001Born on February 7 in Vilanova i la Geltru (Barcelona), in a family with roots and origins in Albacete. Son of a great enthusiast of the art of bullfighting, it was his father who taught him to love the world of bullfighting. He accompanied him to all fairs and at one of these fairs when he was waiting for his father while finished the bullfight, he saw a crowd of enthusiast people carrying in the air a bullfighter, while people were cheering him and clapping him with admiration looks. In that day he decided to become in a bullfighter.

After constantly insist to their parents, he convinced them to take a step forward in search of his dream. He moved from Barcelona to Albacete and he was allowed to be a student at the School of bullfighting in Albacete with 14 years. After 2 years at the School of Bullfighting, he returned to Barcelona due to family reasons. At age 16 he kills his first bull in Casa de Lazaro (Albacete), cutting two bull ears and the tail. At age 17 he dressed his first bullfighter’s costume in Baeza (Jaen), fighting a bullock and cutting both ears. In 1997 he joined to the School of bullfighting in Catalonia and in 1998 he made his debut in the Monumental de Barcelona in a bullfight without bullfighter’s assistant (“novillada”), becoming in a prominent student of the school.

In these years, he spent winters in fields of Salamanca, going to the amateur “tentaderos” (testing area of calves to select the ferocity), making passes to calves when the killers finished their performance.

He travelled through all the country from Barcelona to fight in different bullfight without bullfighter’s assistant, and he moved to Guadalajara because of the lack of opportunities, where he began fighting amateur bullfights and fight the bulls that people run in the streets, with the only purpose to quench his thirst of bullfighting.

In that way, he reach 40 bullfights without bullfighter’s assistant (Novilladas) and an important number of amateur bullfights in order to reach his dream, make his debut in a Bullfight with bullfighter’s assistants.

He made his debut in May 17, 2003, in Becerril de Campos (Palencia).

He fight that year in Navas de San Juan (Jaen) and in 2004 he decided to change Salamanca fields to Jaen, settling in Linares , where he spent many winters preparing and training, feeling a special affection for that land.

In that year, he fought in 5 bullfight in Gerona, Lloret de Mar and Navacerrada.

Also in mid-September it was when he received a serious goring in a training bullfight in Guadalajara, getting injured his cervical, ​​forced him to finish the season.

In 2005 his career took an important turn when D. Aurelio Diaz, a great enthusiastic of bullfighting and businessman, believes in him and decides to be the rmanager of Lopez Diaz. He left amateur bullfightings and decided to come back to Salamanca to prepare the next season, reaching to fight 13 bullfights with bullfighter’s assistants (“Novilladas con picadores”). In that season, Lopez Díaz made his debut as a professional Bullfighter at the Monumental de Barcelona on May 15, amazing spectators and losing trophies because the lack of success with the sword.

He came back to Linares in 2006, making an exceptional season, reaching the top of the bullfighters table and fighting 36 bullfights in bul rings sucha as: Moralzarzal, Mejorada del Campo, Villaviciosa de Odón, Navas del Rey, Sangüesa, Tordesillas, Sahagun and Barcelona among others.

It was an intense season and most of bullfights were fought at bull rings in “provincias” of Madrid, Avila and Toledo, which are qualified as “hard” bull rings.

In September 30 he suffers his first goring in Hoyo de Pinares (Ávila). A bull of Pablo Mayoral inflicted him a goring from the femoral triangle to the stomach with 20 cm of length and a serious prognosis. The pain of the injury was relieved by the news that the company owner of the bull ring of Las Ventas offered him to debut with bullfighter´s assistants, accepting this new with a complete excitement.

This debut happened on October 14 with a serious bullfight (“Novillada”) of Montes de Oca. In his first bull, he received an absolute ovation from the spectators, but it was his second bull which he fight in a completely serious way, with a great dedication, allowing him to cut a bull’s ear, leaving a good impression.

This performance was a turning point in his career, allowing him to enjoy for lots of years of that moment of great personal satisfaction.

In 2007, he continued living in Linares and the season started making ceremonial entry of bullfighters in Las Ventas bull ring and fighting bulls of Julio de la Puerta. He had a serious performance, however he had not chances for success.

The same year, in early May in Guadalajara, he cut a bull’s ear to a bullock of Antonio Ordonez, suffering a goring with 10 cm. length on top of the right thigh when he was trying to kill the bullock.

In May 28 he says goodbye as a bullfighter (“Novillero”) at the bull ring of Monumental de Barcelona.

Some days later, he suffered another goring in Castellon. A bull of the Conde de la Maza injured adductor muscles and cause a goring of 5 cm. in rectus femoris, causing several contusion in the scrotum area. Fortunately he recovered in record time, reappearing a few days later in Ceret (France), where he did a great performance.

In that year, he fought his last bullfight with bullocks in Buitrago de Lozoya (Madrid), cutting both ears to his first bullock, finishing his career as apprentice bullfighter with a great success.

In this season, the last as an apprentice bullfighter, fought 13 bullfights, adding 70 bullfights with bullfighters assistants and a lot of bull festivals.

And finally, the day, he had waited so long, arrived on August 23, 2007, in Sabiote (Jaén). He turned into a professional bullfighter by the hand of Rivera Ordoñez and Curro Diaz as a witness. His first bull called Caracol, the first of his batch, livestock of Collado Ruiz, he opened the bullfight but it was in the second bull, a bull of the livestock San Miguel, when he reached an absolute success, cutting two bull´s ears, despite spectators requested the tail.

He moved to Sevilla during the winter of 2008 to train in the estates of Sevilla and when the season began he moved to Madrid.

The August 16, 2008, in Moral de Calatrava (C. Real), a bull of Adolfo Rodriguez Montesinos, hurt him in the first stage, suffering a goring in the left calf muscle with two curses of 12 and 16 cm. length.

He finished his 2nd season as professional bullfighter fighting in a total of 16 bullfights and 3 bull festivals.

Finished the season, he moved to Zafra (Badajoz), where he trained and prepared for the next season. He moved again to Madrid when started the new season.

He finished the 2009 season with a total of 12 bullfights and 5 bull festivals in Soria, Avila, Jaen, Ciudad Real and Toledo

He received the award in recognition of his dignified and promising career as a Catalan bullfighter by the Federation of Bullfighting organizations in Catalonia in 2009 at the Awards Gala “Pere Balaña Espinos”. This award has a great sentimental value for him, despite he has received several awards along his career.

Lopez Diaz continued living in Madrid, where he felt that there’s no place like home and always travelled to his beloved Barcelona when it was possible for him.

In 2010 he took part in several bullfights and Bull festivals, achieving great success. However we could emphasise his debut in South America, fighting in Ecuador and Venezuela.

In late 2010, he came back to America, in this time to Mexico, where he was living seven months and he was successful.

When he returned to Spain in 2011, his dream came true fighting in the Monumental de Barcelona on August 14, 2011, with a good performance against docile bulls of Palha, but having a great presentation as a bullfighter.

The 2011 season finished with five bullfights (Mexico, Barcelona, Cuenca, Murcia and Teruel), in which the bullfighter got a more than satisfactory balance of 5 bull´s ears and a tail.

He moved to live in Sevilla, Madrid and Salamanca after the end of the season.

Currently Lopez Diaz complies with his commitments as a bullfighter in bullrings of Spain, France and America and he personally manages TauroFlamencoSur S.l.U being present in all events and shows, including fighting in any of them, whenever it is possible.
